Portonovo and the Conero Riviera
Portonovo, called the Adriatic wild queen, has a strong appeal to anyone even on the migratory birds on their way to Africa.
Portonovo is a morphological rarity because: it is a mount which drops down to the sea, it is an important protected area of high natural and environment value. There are beautiful white pebble beaches , small bays with crystal water , historic buildings (the old Napoleonic Fortress and the Guard Tower), two lakes with many animal species and a vast Mediterranean maquis that reaches the sea.
Who knows Portonovo wants to return here and stay on our white limestone beaches bathed by clear water, breathe lavender scent, be enchanted by the little church of St .Maria , a Romanic masterpiece of the XI century built in local stone by Benedictine monks.
